Java string isempty12/17/2023 ![]() ![]() In this Java String Methods tutorial, we have seen about String isEmpty() method in Java, its syntax, and how to use String isEmpty() method in Java programs with the help of examples. In this example, we take a string value "Hello World" in str variable and programmatically check if the string is empty using String isEmpty() method. isEmpty() – Check if the string “Hello World” is empty in Java We will use the value returned by the method as a condition in the Java if else statement. isEmpty () compares the count variable to 0, while equals will check the type, string length, and then iterate over the string for comparison if the sizes match. Strings store a count variable initialized in the constructor, since Strings are immutable. In this example, we take an empty string value in str and programmatically check if the string is empty using String isEmpty() method. String.equals ('') is bit slower than just an isEmpty () call. Apache Commons Lang has StringUtils.isEmpty(String str) method which returns true if argument is empty or null. isEmpty() – Check if the string “” is empty in Java isEmpty is 'new' in java 6 and implementations that are older or want to stay java 5 compatible will have to use length check.
